pet peeve

i get sooooo irritated when this happens
you are walking on the pavement
there are 2 people walking towards you, side by side
if i were them, i'll walk behind my friend so that the other person can walk through without walking out of the pavement or worse still, crashing into the bushes
but NO, they continued walking side by side and forced me to walk into the bushes!
thanks
how rude
urgh!!

anyway, this happened during class today and I was pretty upset
during ed psych class (with other non-PE people), we were on the topic of the problems we may face with class management and we were supposed to present the rules that we would enforce to specific subject lessons
so one of the PE groups said that students were supposed to change into their PE attire even if they were sick
i guess they didn't specifically state that this refered to the students who did not have an MC and were feeling unwell on that day
but even so, the class (non-PE people) had a HUGE reaction to that rule
I tell you, I can't get the sound out of my head
even after re-explaining to them, the look on their faces were terrible
they made it seem as though it was a torture to go for PE classes, especially the female teachers
It really upset me that the other teachers treated PE this way
it shows how much they think PE is so NOT important and that if the students don't want to do it, they will agree with them
Thank God our tutor (who is a very good tutor) really said what was on our minds at that time
she said (not word for word, but something like that) "i think this is the problem that many PE teachers face: other teachers think that PE is not important and release the students late, thinking that it's only a few minutes off the PE lesson and it doesn't matter. But out of the whole week of academic stuff, there is only so little time for PE, for them to get out and exercise, and it is very important.."
yay for Mrs Chee.haha

i guess the Singapore society is still unable to accept sports as an important part of our lives
check out this article - Singaporean's Belief in Sports still lacking
Sports in Singapore will never go far like that
with parents, teachers, the majority of the population not believing
Change is really hard and it'll take lotsa radical peole and hard work
it'll take a pretty long time

I love Singapore a lot
but I wish some things would change

was talking to ron this morning over video msn chat and he was telling me how the sports in loughborough uni was way up there and it's really motivating to see every one training just as hard, or even harder than you. the facilities there are superb and there are like 13 coaches who are all very qualified. really happy for him that he's training so hard and getting into really good shape :)

picture of the indoor track with the outdoor one just next to it. super nice!
